You have entered PhilaTellicLand. A
strange and wonderful place. Welcome to those of you who have never visited. To you others --
You know what to expect!
Thousands of years ago in a place no longer recorded nor remembered, a tribe called the "Clecters"
wandered the earth collecting rocks. Some collected only unblemished rocks, some only rocks that had been used as tools,
some only shale, and so on. Inevitably, over the centuries each group became increasingly specialized and
wary of the others. Tired of hauling huge sacks of rocks from show to show, the brightest group, under the leadership
of King "Phil", who had a glorious Enlightenment, decided to abandon their
stone collections for stamps. It was much easier to haul around a collection of stamps than rocks. Phil tried
constantly to tell the others of this wonderful new world of stamps. Alas, the others derided his message and called
the group "Philtells" (as in "Phil tells us all the time!). Rejected and scorned, the "Philtells" broke from the
"Clecters" to form their own tribe -- the "Philatelists". They spread across the earth and some settled here in PhilaTellicLand.
Here you will meet the three indigenous tribes of PhilaTellicLand, and be able to travel to neighboring
lands where other Philatelists reside. You will find information about Philatelist culture and customs and
general philatelic information.
Thanks to a grant from the Philatelic Historical Institute Library (PHIL), our team
was able to travel to PhilatellicLand and perform a detailed scientific anthropological study of these strange and
wonderful people. The culture and history of Philatelists is rich and deep so check back often as we continue to
publish our results! In the meantime enjoy your tour of PhilaTellicLand.
