Bill (JD Roberto), an ambitious advertising executive, wakes, showers while listening to his waterproof CD player, and pours a quick cup of java. He plants a kiss on his wife (Leann Diamond)'s cheek. Headphones on, preoccupied with her daily Stairmaster workout, she hardly notices. Bill is already out the door: armed to the teeth with his palm pilot, pager, memo recorder, and a cell phone glued to his ear. Facing the morning rush hour in his luxury SUV, Bill expertly juggles his cell phone, car phone, pager, and car fax while negotiating dangerous curves and high-stakes deals. Cell phone in one hand, pager in the other, Bill vociferously arrives at ground zero: The Agency. He buzzes through a frenetic day in the dog-eat-dog advertising frontier. His secretary (Shayna Hill) reads him his e-mail. His staff buzzes around for attention. Phone headset on, forcing the cell phone and house phone to battle for the attention of his one free ear, Bill whips documents off the fax machine while keeping an eye on the angry Asian client (Yuji Kasegawa) glaring out of the video conferencing monitor. After a long day of nerve-shattering accomplishments, Bill tries to unwind at home by channel surfing and listening to his favorite CD between frantic phone calls and a few last minute faxes. He hangs up the phone, the last fax arrives, the CD comes to an end, the TV shuts off, and all is silent. It seems as though Bill's tether to the universe has finally snapped.
Bill does the only sane thing a man like himself is capable of . . .
