The links below are additional info for the Mik-Box 100 W163
retrofit publication and W203 forum post on on
benzworld.org. The Mik-Box is a
low cost alternative to those wanting to upgrade from a StarTac, Timeport,
or V60 to a more modern and standard (non-MB) Motorola phone. Instead of
paying $500 for a low tech Mercedes/Motorola phone you can use a wide
variety of Motorola phones with your current or newly installed phone
integration hardware. All you need is any 2000+ D2B PSE & phone harness, the
Mik-Box & phone cable, and a P2K version Motorola phone. For a list of
compatible phones see the Mik-Box home page. And take a look at the
links below for additional info. You will need to download the
Phone Bulletin specific for your vehicle to see where everything is
located. For new installs you will
also need to have your D2B fiber optic network version coded at your local
dealership.
NOTE:
For those of you wondering how I got the Mercedes Star
graphic on my Motorola phones, I used Motorola's (BVRP) Mobile Phone Tools
software with a data cable and uploaded it to my phone. If you have
some sort of e-mail/media services with your cell phone provider you may be
able to mail it to yourself. You can download it by clicking the
thumbnail below (save the file after it comes up on your screen):
