___Minutes of  Green Sanctuary Meeting on 1/18/2007_

Present: Bob Andrews, Bob Harper, Gary Kleiman ,  Peter Norton, Andy Proulx

We discussed the following:

_The Green Sanctuary Coffee Hour Program.  _  Bob, Gary, and Peter
reported on the status of their coffee hour display on global warming
legislation, scheduled for 1/21. There was discussion of some
refinements in the plans for this occasion. This led into a discussion
of other coffee hour events the committee will undertake:

·        On Feb. 11 Green Sanctuary will participate in Social Action
Sunday. The focus of our display table at that time will be on showing
the broad range of activities carried out by the committee.

·        On March 4 the display will be designed to give people some
perspective on the scientific understanding of global warming.  It will
incorporate information from a soon-to-be-released report by IPPC on
international efforts to address global warming._
_

_First Parish Expansion _Project  - Andy is talking with Peter Nobile
and Sergio Siani about a church event in which Green Sanctuary addresses
the environmental impact of the expansion through the LEED-EB
(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design existing building) rating
system._
_

_Gobal Warming Action Team. _   Not much to report at this time except
that the composition and leadership of the team has been largely
determined through discussion between the Green Sanctuary and SAC
leadership. It is a project of Green Sanctuary, designed to keep us
connected with the church as a whole and the larger community in our
efforts to address global warming this year.  The initial meeting will
be on January 25 at 8 a.m. More to follow._
_

_Concord-Carlisle Adult and Community Education's Global Warming
Symposium and Fair_. This event is scheduled for March 24 at the
Concord-Carlisle High School.  It will be a large event with a keynote
speaker (Mark Breslow) ; a series of half-hour exhibits and talks by
selected vendors and environmental groups; many tables and display
boards prepared by environmental groups, town departments, and vendors
of environmentally friendly products; and another opportunity to see the
Al Gore movie, _An Inconvenient Truth.  _  Green Sanctuary is committed
to promoting this event within the church and participating in it as a
table exhibitor.  More information about the event will be appearing in
the church and throughout the community._
_

_The Greening Of General Assembly.  _The committee supports a
recommendation initiated by Bob Harper and the Denominational Affairs
Committee that the church pay an optional additional fee for each of our
FP delegates .  The UUA is collecting these fees to donate to
investments in sustainable energy alternatives.

ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability.   We are considering whether
we should be involved in advocating for a special assessment of the
town's energy conserving needs by this organization. No immediate action
is envisioned at this time.

Concord Sustainable Energy Committee's Recommendations to the Town. Bob
Harper informed us of recent events. The Sustainable Energy Committee is
currently discussing some of tis recommendations with the Light Plant
Board. While there are some remaining areas of disagreement as to what
the Light Plant and town should do, other differences are being resolved
through these discussions.  The Sustainable Energy Commission may or may
not take a warrant article to Town Meeting in the spring.  Our committee
will try to stay informed about this as it develops.
