Home | Overview | BN Loop | CORY Branch | Operations
The Columbia & Okanogan Railway is a semi-double-decked N scale layout. It occupies the southwest corner of our basement and is limited by a window well (and fire escape) along the south (left) wall and the utility closet along the west (top) wall. The south and west sides and half of the north side butt against walls. The remainder of the north (right) side and all the east (bottom) side are accessible from both sides of the benchwork. The BN Loop benchwork is for the most part 18 inches deep. The Columbia & Okanogan benchwork rises above the BN Loop and extends two peninsulas into the central area of the layout. Minimum aisle widths are 30 and 32 inches.
The lower deck is called the BN Loop and consists of the town of Wenatchee, Washington, and two hidden staging yards. Wenatchee, the visible portion of the loop, consists of Appleyard and the BN shops, the industrial area, the Amtrak station, and extends to W-O Junction.
The upper deck, the CORY Branch, diverges from the lower at W-O Junction. The CORY Branch heads up from W-O Junction but there's also a short spur descending to Rocky Reach Dam's powerhouse. Above Rocky Reach Dam the CORY Branch climbs via a hidden helix towards Entiat. It passes Earthquake Point and Ribbon Cliff as it nears Entiat. From Entiat past Brewster to Omak, the benchwork sits above the BN Loop. The line ends at Oroville which forms the second peninsula into the layout space.
