during this time players eligible can file for free agency and or try to re-sign with their 2004 teams
Nov. 12- 1st day free agents may sign with teams other
than their own
Nov 9-12- GM Meetings, Key Biscayne, FLA
Nov. 11-New waiver period begins
Nov. 19-Reserve lists filed for all Minor and Major
league teams
Dec. 7-Last date for former club of player who declared
free agency to offer salary arbitration. If club does not offer, then it loses all rights to negotiate with and sign the free
agent until May 1st of the next season
Dec. 10-13- Winter Meetings in Anaheim
Dec. 13- Major League Rule V draft
Dec. 19-Last date for player, who declared free agency,
to accept an arbitration offer of former club. If player rejects offer to go to arbitration, his former club may still negotiate
with and sign him until January 8th of next season
Dec. 20-Last day to tender contracts
Jan 5-15- Salary Arb. filing period
Jan. 8- Last day for Free Agent players who
rejected arb. offers, to re-sign with their former team until May 1st
Jan. 18- Salary Arb. figures exchanged
Feb. 1-21- Salary Arb. Hearings thruout the league
Feb. 19- Voluntary report date to Spring Training
for pitchers, catchers and rehabbing players
Feb. 24- Voluntary report date for all players
March 2-11- Teams can renew contracts of un-signed
protected players (less than 3 years experience and were not arb. eligible)
March 2- Mandatory Spring Training report date; games
begin
March 16- Last day to place a player on unconditional
release waivers and pay 30 days termination pay instead of 45 days
March 30- Last day to request unconditional release
waivers on a player without having to pay his full 2005 salary
April 4- Opening Day, all Active roster must be set
to 25 players
July 12- All-Star Game in Detroit at Comerica Park
