Here are my newly created web pages which are still under some construction so there is still some work to be done. |

A rare picture of me with my Goldwing and trailer at Petrified Forrest NP.
My name is Susan and live in California where it is a great place to own a motorcycle, or at least a Honda Goldwing. I've been riding for almost 30 years. I started with a small Kawasaki 400 and moved up to a Honda Silverwing, then I finally got my first Goldwing which was a 1983 Gl1100 Aspencade. I upgraded to an '89 1500 then there was the '95 Magenta 20th Anniversary SE (below). After the accident,I was lucky enough to get a '97 White SE which became Fantasy Wing II.
I've been an AMA member for over 28 years and a GWRRA member for 27 years with almost 400K miles as a member almost 450K total, My '95 rolled over the 100K mark before the accident. I've been as far as New York and Tennessee, up into Canada above the Great Lakes, and in the south, I've hit Oklahoma, Texas and all the western states. I ran out of gas once in Montana and I had a flat tire on my trailer in Kentucky. I have seen a lot of ways to decorate and customize a Wing and even a trailer can have a nice custom look to match. Right now I pull an Escapade LE Trailer and before that I had a Bushtec Ultimate for 14 years. (smaller than what is made now).

I like making things and doing the work myself. I did all the artwork on both bikes (except for the pin striping on the 95), I painted over the black & gold pin striping on the '97 with purple and white and now that I've changed to red I'm putting all new lines on the '97. Also, I hope to add the same pinstriping lines to the trailer. I also make a lot of the brackets and mounts for my electrical toys. One day I want to take my wing to England, and one day I hope I do, maybe even move there. The new 1800 Goldwing still doesn't look right to me and I still like the 1500, but either way I do want a new one and I hope to get a 2005 model. Cross your fingers all the bugs have been worked out by then.
March 24th was a Sunday that I will never forget. I was leaving Mesquite NV, where I enjoyed a chapter rally and while going through Las Vegas, on the way home, I went down. Check out my Accident, I know it doesn't look all that bad but when the frame on a motorcycle is bent or damaged most insurance co's. don't want to waste time or money fixing them. So they gave me a check and I got the 97.

Below is a picture of how I changed from purple to red. As you can see it's getting a whole new look, I decided the purple just wasn't really working with the cream/white color so I had the seat recovered and added new pinstriping and with a few other red accents I think it looking better. The pinstriping will be a mix of black, red and sand. Now, what else can I add or do?

The two pictures below are of me riding my wing, at the California District Rally 2001. I'm trying to do a tight turn in a 25'x25' box during the skills competition. It can be done smaller but I've learned to not try real hard to make the smallest circle possible but to just stay inside the box. Also, I hadn't practiced in a while and I would need to in order to do a better circle. The trick is to not go out of the box. I surprised myself by taking 1st place in the expert category. Our Dist. Educator decided to try a Novice & an Expert category to encourage more riders to participate.
Thank you Rick Elmor of GWRRA's Ca1F for taking these for me.

Below is my latest GL1800 Flare Red with yellow color matched part to accent the pinstriping. This was taken in Canon City CO in front of the Abby. I'm really enjoying the more sporty feel of the 1800 and the new Avon Cobra tires are helping me get over the slippery road scares I've had in the past few years.

My newest addition to my motorcycling enjoyment is a Nolan N103 Corsa Red (which exactly matches the Flare Red 1800). I wasn't able to replace the Ski-Doo Modular (Lazer Revolution) I had years ago, because it's more of a snowmobile helmet and AGV seems to be selling Lazer's these days (mostly in Europe). I like the Nolan because it has a latching system that has hooks that slide into the cheek part and therefore if the nose gets an impact the flip up part hopefully won't pop open. Also when the nose piece is flipped up it retracts back settling down a bit on top of the helmet, unlike the other modular helmets that just flip up and make the front of the helmet a bit top heavy. :-)
