Welcome to the Lyon County Civil Air Patrol Website

Congratulations for being interested in the Civil Air Patrol.
 
CAP is a private, non-profit corporation that was charted under a special Act of Congress on 1 December 1941. It is an all volunteer organization that is the official Auxiliary of the United States Air Force.

CAP is charted with three primary missions: Aerospace Education, Emergency Services, and Cadet programs.

While CAP has long been associated with search and rescue missions, its work also includes disaster relief and communications, as well as reconnaissance and transportation for counter-drug and homeland security missions.

This Lyon County Squadron is one of thirteen squadrons  serving the State of Nevada, withover 850 Adult and Youth members.
 
Lyon County CAP is a Composite Squadron comprised of both Senior and Cadet members, conducting both senior and cadet programs.
 
The Squadron is located in Yerington, Nevada, on Trowbridge Ave on the west side of the Yerington International Airport (O43).
 
The Cadets meet every Tuesday evening at 6:30pm (1830 hrs) at the Squadron. Youths aged 12-20 are welcome. Parents are encourged to attend.
 
The Senior Members currently meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00pm (1900 hrs) at the Squadron.

Cadet activities include aerospace education, leadership training, and physical fitness.
