Mt. Dora Exotic Car Show 02/01
The local Porsche Club was invited to enter cars in the Mt Dora
Exotic Car show. They were looking al varieties, There were classes
for both judged and display only. I decided to take my car and enter
it in the display only group. I don't have the time or desire to clean
my race car to be judged in a concours event. I did wash it and vacuum
it so it was not a complete pig. Being on the track it gets dust, oil
residue and dirt in every little nook and cranny you can imagine.
I loaded the car on the trailer the night before the event. I made
30-40 minute drive to Mt. Dora early the next morning. (at least early
for me) It was very foggy in a couple of places, so the car got all
wet sitting on the trailer. When I arrived I found the trailer parking
area and preceded to unload. I decided to wipe the car down to try
and remove the road grime I accumulated on the short trip. Since it
was a cool morning, I needed to start the car and let it warm up for a few
minutes before driving it to the display area.
After the car was ready to go, I got out my map and started driving along
the residential city streets trying to figure out how they wanted me to come
in. Race cars can be pretty load first thing in the morning in a quite
residential area. I finally found the entrance for show cars and I
was guided to the Porsche parking area. I was given my assigned spot
and parked.
It turned into a beautiful day. There were many cars of different
makes and models lined up on the city streets. Here are some pictures
from the event.
