The Eastside 2nd Sat Contradance

Folk Horizons offers a dance every 2nd Saturday at the Juanita Community Club Hall in Kirkland, WA. Beginner contradance instruction starts at 7:30p and the dance gets into full swing by 8p. A short video example of a contradance is here.

Laura Me’ Smith is the caller for
our dances along with a guest band
presenting traditional folk music.
The evening is contra dances along
with an occasional circle or square dance. A walk-through is provided for all dances. Opportunities to waltz and free ice cream(!) are offered during the break. Admission is $8 at the door; $4 for students. Attending with a partner is not necessary. Please wear soft soled shoes.

Driving from Central/South Seattle and points east:
Take I-405 and leave highway at NE 124th St (from the north, exit 20; from the south, exit 20B). Travel west one mile on 124th to 100th Ave NE and turn right. Continue 1/4 mile to the hall located on the west side of the street.

Driving from North Seattle and other points north:
Take Lake City Way, Bothell Way, and NE 96th Ave around the top of the lake. Continue onto NE 100th Ave. Hall is located immediately south of NE 132nd St on west side of street.

 

Bus Services:
From Downtown Seattle, Univ District,
South Kirkland, and Downtown Kirkland, take bus 255 to intersection of NE 100th Ave and NE 124 St. Walk north 5 – 8 mins to hall.
