What is Super Blue Green Algae?
     SBGA is a microalgae of the species Aphanizomenon flos-aquae.  It grows wild in Upper Klamath Lake,

How is SBGA different from other algae or green foods?

It is important to remember that these testing standards, established by Simplexity, far exceed those of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. There is no food product we know of that undergoes more stringent quality and purity control analysis and tests. The samples which are tested are taken daily, and in every batch of product, to insure that all Super Blue Greentm products are safe, pure and healthful.

DOES Super Blue Green  Algae PRODUCE A NEUROTOXIN?

Super Blue Green Algae, made of Aphanizomenon flos-aquae from Upper Klamath Lake, has not produced a neurotoxin in fifteen years that Super Blue Greentm Algae has been tested. Of greater importance is the constant testing and microscopic examination of the algae being harvested, to make certain no toxic conditions exist.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER SPECIES OF ALGAE IN UPPER KLAMATH LAKE THAT COULD PRODUCE TOXINS?

Other algae, such as Microcyctis could grow in Upper Klamath Lake and could produce toxins under certain conditions, but our constant sampling, testing, and examination keeps insuring that the Super Blue Green™ Algae products are always pure Aphanizomenon flos-aquae.

HOW DO YOU TEST FOR THE PRESENCE OF NEUROTOXINS?

Every day, a sample of fresh algae is taken and analyzed to determine the species is pure Aphanizomenon flos-aquae. These tests show that the algae in the lake is usually 99% Aphanizomenon flos-aquae, with the small remainder being Pediastrum boryanum, a non-toxic algae. To double check and to insure the algae are totally toxin-free, a series of precise biochemical assays are made. We use a test called an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to check for any toxins from a different algae called Microcystis. We also double check for neurotoxins, produced by Anabaena flos aquae. We use, among other tests, the very advanced technology of high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC). This test easily identifies the presence of even trace amounts of any such organic substances. These tests are part of an entire series of tests done on every batch of Super Blue Greentm Algae.

IS THE ALGAE SAFE FOR CHILDREN AND THE ELDERLY?

Absolutely. Here is the fact: There has never been a medical report of a toxic reaction related to the consumption of any Simplexity product. The Vegetarian Times article quoted a person who has never visited Simplexity and has never had any contact with those who have eaten the algae or those who harvest and process it. Such speculation is not based on science or even personal knowledge. Simplexity products are totally safe.

CLEANSING REACTION: WHAT IS A "CLEANSING REACTION"?

WHAT WATER QUALITY TESTS ARE CONDUCTED?

Every 15 minutes, we check the water for temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, resistance (measuring ions) and density. These tests reveal the precise purity of the water, and they are conducted at the harvest site, to insure the data directly relates to the water from which we harvest Super Blue Green Algae.
