This web page is based upon two different books that detail the genealogy of the Catlett family. The first is: Dr. & Mrs. William Carter Stubbs A History of Two Virginia Families Transplanted from County Kent, England: Thomas Baytop, Tenterden, 1638 and John Catlett, Sittingbourne, 1622(New Orleans) n.d. The main reason for using Stubbs is that it is really the only book on the Catlett family ever published and most, if not all, later genealogies rely very heavily on Stubbs. With that in mind, I must warn that Stubbs is not dependable. Although Stubbs remains a good place to start, it is not reliable; I discovered this many years ago when comparing Stubbs with the records in the Berkelely Co. WV Court House. Any body wishing to use the Catlett data on this page is strongly urged to double check all information against the existing primary records. The other source I used is: David A. Avant, Jr, Some Southern Colonial Families, Volumes 1 & 3(L'Avant Studios) n.d. Avant is very good and cites orginal sources whenever possible; I consider this work very dependable. The focus of Avant is the English orgins of the Catlett family, and that is what I used in my research.

Elizabeth died circa 1673 in Rappahannock Co., VA, at age unknown. She was judged not married to Dr. James Taylor circa 1654 in VA. Elizabeth's will was probated 7 March 1672/3 in Rappahannock Co., VA.
