Akorn Komputing is a sole proprietorship engaged in providing a wide array of services to clients large and small.  Akorn Komputing was organized in 1982 to provide continuing support to a client of a hi-tech product research and development organization which had ceased most operations, but still had contractual obligations.  Since that time the services provided have expanded from software development to proposal and technical writing, management, and other areas.  Current support is primarily in the areas of proposal management, proposal and grant writing, business development, and analysis.

Mr. Van Akkeren has more than 36 years experience in all phases of large and small systems design and development, including more than 10 years of task and project leadership and more than 21 years of building his own business. Mr. Van Akkeren has a strong background in requirements analysis, proposal development, technical writing, user and design documentation, structured design, programming, training, instructional system design, system testing, web development, databases systems, and project management in varied applications.

Mr. Van Akkeren brings his varied experience with many customers, government agencies, and technologies to provide customers with analysis and advice in all areas of Information Technology (IT).  He has written white papers and made presentations on specific technologies and applications as well as consulting issues.

Proposals and documentation have been developed for testing programs, weather data systems, publishing management, software developments, large integrated networks, COTS hardware and software, financial/real estate systems, biomedical research and data systems,  emergency transportation services, justice/legal support, general information technology support, and many others.

In the area of software and applications development he has developed and worked with inventory management, project milestone/tracking systems, financial systems, data acquisition, regression analysis, image handling, reconstruction and manipulation, data base management systems, automated testing programs and procedures, embedded microprocessors, hardware and software evaluation, operating systems and peripheral device drivers, system troubleshooting, telemetry decommutation, independent testing, FFT's, and convolution algorithms. Applications have been developed for biomedical data monitoring and analysis, inventory management and tracking, medical imaging systems, radiation therapy planning system, automated field service tracking system, automated hardware testing programs and procedures, weather data handling, air traffic control system, laboratory information systems, and data base management systems.

Mr. Van Akkeren has managed and developed instructional systems as well as taught IT classes.
