REBORN BERENGUER DOLLS
Reborn Berenguers start out as basic Dolls by Berenguer and come in many different faces and sizes. Once chosen, the doll is taken apart. Then all factory paint is removed and the parts are cleaned in a warm sudsy bath to remove any residue.
Once dry I then color wash the body parts in my special blend of colors inside and out to create realistic baby skin tones. They are also blushed on the outside using various types and colors in oil blends making sure not to miss a single wrinkle.
They are left to dry for a good amount of time to make sure my coloring is perfect. Next I apply thier eyelashes to compliment the hair I choose for later on and apply the barely there eyebrows.
I then gently open thier nose with a special tool to allow them to become a "breather" and back the nose using black felt so none of the stuffing comes through.
It is then time for some hair. Some babies I may use a mohair wig specially sized for them and others I micro root the hair using special rooting tools to ensure it looks just like a babies would.
The fingers and toes are carefully painted to give a freshly cut look and coated several times to ensure no chipping. Most of my babies have a special magnet attached inside the head by the mouth in order for them to take a magnetic pacifier. I do not like to cut my babies mouths as to compromise the strength of the vinyl itself. Some babies I may add a special heartbeat mechanism and heat packs so they warm up for you to hold them.
Now it is time for thier bodies. I change the old body with a new body that is now jointed. The arms and legs are filled with sterile play sand to add some weight like an actual baby and sealed using silicone to prevent leaking.
The body is stuffed with bagged poly pellets to weigh it in all the right spots and the head is even weighed so you need to support the head when holding the baby. The rest of the body is stuffed with a poly fil which makes the baby feel cuddly when you snuggle them.
Lastly it is time to put them back together and then they are "Reborn"!
Each baby is different and one of a kind. I detail them as I see they should be for each one specially. Once reborned they are not intended for childs play and are intended as a collector doll to be passed down from generation to generation. They go home to thier new mommies with a birth certificate that is numbered and signed by me as the artist, a receiving blanket, magnetic pacifier, bottle and one baby outfit. I do not include other outfits as these babies wear real baby clothes from preemie to 0-3 months and the new parents can pick out clothing to thier liking. Have fun shopping for your new bundle!
