Hey, We're an Award-Winning Group!
  • SWE Atlanta got the Region D award for highest growth (25%)!  We now have 130 members and get 2 COR at National Conference!
  • SWE Atlanta was selected by National to kick off this year’s signature event, "Wow! That’s Engineering!
  • The Atlanta SWE section is pleased to announce that the Georgia Tech
    student section
won two awards at the Region D Spring Conference, held on March 2-4, 2007, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama:
    • Highest Number of New Members (66) and
    • Highest Number of Retained Members (68).

This is exceptional, as they are growing new members as well as retaining their own. Congratulations Georgia Tech SWE!  Keep it up!

Previous Meetings

March '07 Meeting:
Steppin' Up!
On March 27th, the SWE professional section hosted the graduating seniors of Georgia Tech and Southern Polytechnic University to let them know about all of the great things the SWE Atlanta Professional Section is doing this year and in the future.

This event was an effort to ensure that the graduating seniors are aware of the professional section, and what a great networking opportunity it affords its members.  At the event, held at Food 101 in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood, members and students enjoyed appetizers, wine, and each others' company as the topics of SWE participation, leadership opportunities, and community outreach were discussed.  It was a great event to integrate potential members and share experiences of those who have been involved with SWE in the past, present, and future.

February '07 Meeting:
International Business Etiquette

International business etiquette

Engineers doing business in the international community need to understand the culture and values of other countries. Polite behavior in one country may be offensive in another. Peggy Parks of the Parks Image Group hosted a workshop for members of SWE Atlanta in February. She has experience in personal and career image consultations as well as corporate workshops.

SWE Atlanta kicked off its flagship program during e-week: Teacher’s Training Day. Everyone enjoyed it so much we are doing it again on May 19!
