Registration and Audition Information
Enrollment into the Palomar Symphony Orchestra is open to all students and
community members.
Placement within the orchestra is dependant upon available seating and may
be subject to an audition process in certain sections of the orchestra.
If you are asked to audition, please follow these suggested
guidelines:
1. Prepare a 2-3 octave major and minor scale of your
choice. String players may be asked to demonstrate various bowing styles including spiccato and staccato bowings.
2. Prepare two (2-3) minute in length solo selections of your choice from the standard literature
from your instrument and from two periods of music history.
3. Sight reading
from the standard orchestral literature may be asked.
Please contact the Music
Director, Douglas Bruck or the Concertmaster, Ulli
Reiner, first before you register for the orchestra to see if an audition will be required or not for your instrument and
section.
Registration for
the 2009-10 will begin in August and may be done on line through Palomar College!
All registered musicians of the Palomar Symphony Orchestra must purchase a
student parking permit. Permits can be purchased through the Cashier's Office or through the registration process. This
parking permit allows you to park in any of the student parking lots. No one is allowed to park in any of the faculty lots
including Lot 1, which is directly in front of the D building.
