We ate our lunch under the Piney Creek Bridge in the shade out of the hot sun. Seems like yesterday when we were looking for a sunny place in the woods to eat our lunch where we would be warm!
Our trip back down stream was fast with no trash to stop and pick up. We explored a couple of side stream openings which dead ended. Saw a reddish snake in one, our second snake of the day.
It was a most enjoyable and fruitful day. We hope the powers that be in the City of Jacksonville and The County of Onslow can all get together ASAP and make this paddle a designated "Blue Water Paddle Trail" for our public and our tourists to enjoy. We need to stop ignoring our lovely flowing waters and make them usable for us and our visiting tourists."
