George S. Mankin
George Sedwick Mankin, known as 'Uncle Seddy', died August 10, 1928 at
six o'clock Friday morning in his residence, 1100 Seventh Avenue, Terre
Haute, Indiana. He was 62 years of age. The son of William Thomas Mankin
and Rebecca Orison Mankin of Parke County, he was born there, January 28,
1866. He made his living as a coal miner and, in later years, as
a farmer on land he owned near Saint Mary Of The Woods. He is survived
by his widow, Mrs. Ola McCaulkin Mankin, who he united with December 8,
1902, and three nephews, Arthur Woods of Terre Haute, A.D. Woods of El
Paso, Texas and Gilbert Beebe Woods of Los Angeles, California. Services
will be held Sunday afternoon, in his residence, at 3 o'clock PM, and burial
will take place at Highland Lawn Cemetery.
