Where are the Psychic Friends when you need them?
Oh, I have such a headache. Tasked with developing "realistic" projections of our expenditures, I have been updating
projections we did one year ago. Like then, this is mostly a guessing game, since we have NO EARTHLY WAY OF KNOWING how many
of our documents and maps can be replaced with donations or how much we're going to spend replacing those we have to purchase.
Yes, it's true: as talented as we are, we cannot come up with "realistic" numbers because we aren't clairvoyant.
I don't know about you, but they skipped me when they passed out the prescience.

All I want for Christmas is my two big spaces
It just gets better and better. Now, the
Fire Safety Office is telling us that the fire alarm system in Sinclair Library basement must be upgraded before we will be allowed to demolish
the partitions so we can have space for our map cases and additional stacks. This is after we've already been occupying the
basement for two years! Not to mention the report we received that the air conditioning in the basement is only expected to
last another year at most.
On top of that, we had hoped to move into additional space at Dole Office Building starting in November, but the current occupant
hasn't vacated yet, so we'll have to wait until January, at least. Now we are being charged for storage of our new microfiche
cabinets by the vendor.
