Filing maps in great big folders
The maps that were cleaned by Belfor USA came to us clean but slightly out of order. Map Collection student assistants Megan
Teruya and Dawn Sueoka, along with LIS intern Vanessa Vallejos, are now putting the thousands of maps in order and filing
them in oversized acid-free folders. The folders will protect the maps from further damage. Although the maps have been cleaned,
many of them are stained and some have become more fragile due to the cleaning process. They are currently working on maps
of Asia, Europe, and the world. Still to come: cleaned maps of the Pacific and Hawaii, plus all of the replacement maps that
have been acquired in the past two years.
