We had a meeting with Diane Perushek to discuss our lack of space for incoming map cases and books. We have enough material on hand to completely fill all of our existing map cases and shelving. We have to order more map cases, but there is no place to put them right now. We have also run out of room on our shelves both at Sinclair Library and Dole Cannery.

 

The options include tearing down walls in the basement of Sinclair Library or finding additional off-site storage at Dole Cannery or elsewhere. Needless to say, our preference is to use the basement of Sinclair Library; however, getting funding for the required renovation and finding some other storage place for the shelving parts currently stored in Sinclair are the hurdles to be overcome. We're not expecting any miracles.

Approximately 10,000 maps of the Pacific area were sent to Belfor for treatment yesterday. We wanted to send the maps last year, but it took a very long time for the additional work to be added to the Belfor contract through the procurement office. So, this is a major milestone!
