FEMA Funk
If you've been wondering why I don't post to this blog every day, it's because I am overwhelmed trying to put together
data for FEMA on top of all the regular work we have to do, not to mention trying to process thousands of replacement documents,
keep up with offers lists, go to meetings ... you get the picture. FEMA stands for Frustrating, Exasperating, Maddening Agency.
We receive requests like, "I need a list of X by 4:00 tomorrow." So, we're supposed to drop everything to meet their deadline.
If we balk, we're told, "If you want our money, you have to jump through our hoops." I know I'm not the only person here who thinks
that four more years of this is going to send me to the madhouse!

Government Documents Work Day
Over 40 volunteers from the UHM Libraries, other local libraries, the Library and Information Science Program, and the
community were on hand Friday to help us open and sort over 300 boxes of replacement documents. In six hours, we unboxed
thousands of federal documents that had been sent to us by libraries all over the nation. Photos are currently on Hamilton
Library's home page: http://libweb.hawaii.edu/
