Oshvah Siberians
Vern and Olivia Harvey
Olive Branch, MS
We began showing dogs in 1972. Our initial exposure to dog shows was in the obedience ring. Then we purchased our first show quality bitch, and the breeder stipulated that we would show her in at least three AKC point shows. In her first show, "Tara" won a blue ribbon, and we were hooked! Since starting the Siberian Husky Club of Greater Atlanta, Vern has gone on to become an AKC judge approved in 24 breeds, and Olivia is approved for 15. We have just finished "Shiver," our fifth generation of OSHVAH.
Was it worth it? Yes, for what started out to be a minor hobby has become a life-long commitment. We have made friends all over the world and look forward to the next millenium.
We believe that actually running
the dogs in harness helps our understanding of the breed. This allows us a more
"informed viewpoint" in the show ring. The photo below shows Vern competing in a race in Flagstaff, Arizona.
