Greetings and Love from Chichicastenango

This web site is dedicated to sharing with you our ministry of helping to feed, clothe, shelter, and educate impoverished and orphaned children in the Central American country of Guatemala.

Our efforts are in the spirit of Saint Francis and Saint Clare of Assisi, Italy.

The Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love,

Where there is injury, pardon,

Where there is doubt, faith,

Where there is despair, hope,

Where there is darkness, light,

And where there is sadness, Joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled, as to console,

To be understood, as to understand,

To be loved, as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Greetings from Guatemala!
Hello to all of you.

We have been here in Guatemala for four days now. The weather here is beautiful. Our flight on Thursday was held over for two hours in Maimi, but once we reached Guatemala City we were met by friends. We went to a reception dinner and then off to bed in Antigua. Friday morning we woke early and walked to breakfast. Then took a walking tour of Antigua, ending up at the market. After the market, we rested a while and then we took off for Takalík, an eco-lodge located at the site of mayan ruins. We spent Friday night, all day Saturday and Saturday night at Takalík. In the process, we delivered gifts to the children of the workers at the lodge. There were many smiles among both the receivers and the givers.

This morning we arose early and had Mass with the workers at the lodge and thier families. Then after a short breakfast, we drove to the home of one of our sponsors in Guatemala (a short distance away) for a large lunch and then we departed for Santiago Atitlán on the shores of Lake Atitlán. The view up here is very beutiful. We will spend tomorrow here in Santiago Atitlán, and then we are off to Chichi, where our work will begin.

We will try to report again as time and opportunity allows, but know that your prayers for our mission are felt every day.

Thank you and may God Bless you!

For the Children of God.

Peace!

P.S. If the typing looks funny, I appologize. The computer keyboard I am typing from is set up for spanish and not all the keys work the same way I am used to.
