What does sponsorship mean? As a sponsor, you are
asked to contribute $35 per month per child you sponsor. $30 of that donation provides food for that child for one month and
the remainder provides for personal care items, such as tooth brushes and toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and other necessary
items. You will receive a photograph of your girl(s) and from time to time letters, and updated photos.
Several times during the course of a year, members of
our parish will travel to Chichicastenango and visit the girls and the Sisters. Before each trip, we send out letters
to all of the sponsors asking for donations of pens, pencils, art supplies (the girls are very artistic, as you will
see in their letters) and other small, light weight school supplies. We also ask the sponsors to write letters to the
girls, to help foster the bond of friendship that has grown between us. We pack the letters and school supplies into
our suitcases and carry them with us to the school. Surprisingly enough, we always seem to find several
large bags of candy stowed away in our luggage. This is always a big treat for the girls.
Eventually, the girls reach an age when they
must leave the school, but there are always more girls waiting to take their place. If (when) the girl you sponsor
leaves the Internado, a new girl will come forward to receive your sponsorship, your prayers and your love.
Sponsorships can be paid in monthly, quarterly, semiannually
or annually installments. To begin your sponsorship, please print and fill out a "New Sponsorship Form" (see link
below) and mail it, along with an initial payment, to the address listed at the bottom of the form. Please allow about
one month for acknowledgement of your donation.
We hope that after much prayer and consideration
on your part, you will open your heart and sponsor one of these Children of God. If you find that you can not become
a sponsor at this time, we ask for your prayers for the continued success of our mission.
