Hello fellow Children of God.  Our summer travel plans are coming into focus, as the letter below will show.

 Dear Children of God Committee Members,

 

We hope everyone is doing well.  Here is an update on our plans for Visiting the Children of God in Chichicastenango, Guatemala this year.

 

AUGUST TRIP:  

We are working on the details for the trip, which is scheduled for departure from Raleigh on Thursday, July 31st and return on Saturday August 9. The plan is to send out a letter within the next few weeks with cost details and deposit information.

 

NEW CLASSROOM PROJECT:

An appeal letter is in the making concerning the new space we plan to build. We need to raise $73,000. We want to design the space to serve as additional classroom space for most of the year, and to also be the medical clinic facility for our annual medical missions. More information will follow soon.

 

UPCOMING TRIPS:

A.R and W.M. are traveling to Guatemala on May 29th. They will spend a day in Chichi, with plans to do eyeglass fittings for the girls.  A.R. returns to Raleigh after a few days; W.M. will stay in Guatemala for a few more weeks.

 

The D. family from Our Lady of Lourdes will spend almost a month at the Internado in Chichi in June. J.D. is a school teacher and she will be teaching English at the school. Her son will be conducting physical education classes and her two daughters will attend classes with the children.  We ask for everyone’s prayers for God’s presence for the D. family and for the children in Chichi as they spend time together.

 

We give thanks to God for His constant presence in all that we do.

As you can see, we have a busy schedule ahead of us.  We plan on performing more dental work this year and hope to inaugurate the building of the new class/clinic rooms.  This is a most important project for the school and for the town itself, since many of the town’s children also attend the school along with the girls who live at the Internado.  More classrooms will allow the Sisters to provide classes for higher grade levels.  If you wish to provide technical assistance for the class/clinic room construction project, please visit our Volunteer page and submit a form to us describing your wishes.  If you would like to make a cash contribution for the class/clinic room project, please make your check payable to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and then put “Children of God Classrooms” in the memo line.  You may mail your contributions to the following address.
