| Mike Fontenot
| 2B | Orioles | BL TR |
Contacts. Fontenot got them in May. He hit .198 in 30 games through May 15, then hit .362 and slugged .532 in 96 games (348 AB) the rest of the way. Too bad it will take two injuries for him to have a chance to play for the O's this year.

Like Mike Ryan, Ford made the most of his chances with the Twins last year, but doesn't have much of a chance to get significant playing time this year. He's listed at 6-0 (you can't be under 6-0 unless you're Tom Gordon short) but has surprising pop for a little guy.

| John Gall
| 1B | Cardinals | BR TR |
He's hoping the Cardinals change their minds and move Pujols back to left field. Lisa Winston tidbit: Gall is Eric Byrnes' first cousin.

| Jody Gerut
| OF | Indians | BL TR |
Given name is Joseph Diego Gerut (Joe D. Gerut, get it?). He missed all of 2001 with right knee surgery to repair a damaged patellar tendon, then came back proved he could still hit. It wasn't enough, so he added some strength. But now it's come out that he has a torn rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder. Avoid.

| Byron Gettis
| RF | Royals | BR TR |
An ex-football player, his thighs make him look like he still has his pads on. He stole 15 bases, with probably half of them coming when the infielder saw him coming and made a common-sense decision about protecting his own best interests. He was second in the Texas League in RBI and fourth in on-base percentage. Lisa Winston tidbit: Gettis was signed in a bowling alley.
