OUTSIDERS LOOKING IN

Excerpt 1

Dear Lord,
Dad did something wrong and they took him to jail.
I dont know what happened really, but you do.

Now our lives are all messed up. Mom has to go to
work so we can eat. We hardly ever see her any more.
All our time is spent going to the jail to see Dad.

Mom is changing. She used to be real nice and good
to us, but now she yells a lot. Her and dad dont get
along very good either when we go to see him. I know
she is trying, though.

People have changed. We never hear from my parents
friends, and my old friends hate me. They call me names,
and sometimes fight me. Once my big brother chased them
away. But it just gets worse all the time. And now a gang
wants me to join them. I know it would be wrong, but theyll
hurt me if I dont. Im afraid to go to school.

God, my familys lives are really getting bad. Its very scary.
Dad did something wrong, but we didnt.
Please help so our lives arent ruined!
