Sorry I could not be at our last Stated
meeting but my duty that night was to support my
wife at the Grand Chapter of Virginia – Order
of the
Eastern Star.
She is the Grand Secretary and relies
on me to set up her computers and provide technical
assistance so she can concentrate on her
duties
which are to assist the Worthy Grand Matron and
Worthy Grand Patron in keeping things running
smoothly.
She is a marvel to watch at her job.
I was particularly saddened to have missed the
Brother Jerry Baber’s 50 year pin presentations. I
have been hearing that Brother Baber has done a
lot
of good work for others over the years and
has been
a true Brother and Mason with a helping hand and
generous heart.
Let’s wish him another 50 years to
continue his good works.
Brother Tom Jones passed away on May 19th. Tom
was a very interesting brother. He was very lively.
He was noted
for his dancing at the ACCA dances and
he was a member of band that entertained
at
retirement homes, Lodges, the Masonic Home, etc.
He
was quite a showman. He was also very
interested in people and was a good friend and
listener who brought comfort to many in their final
days and hours.
We also lost Brother Billy Powers who was not an
active Mason but a very active member of the Loyal
Order of the Moose. He was awarded the highest
honor in the Moose and served in many leadership
positions at the State and National levels. We could
have used his dynamic leadership in Masonry.
All of our delinquent Brethren (4) have now been
sent
letters by the Grand Master urging them to pay
their
dues, so the next step will be to begin the citation
process.
Dues notices for
those who have not paid their 2009 dues will go out in July.
