Witt Mills - Dust Collection Agency
(CD with Quicktime Movie)

Witt was one of atlanta's great artists, who left an incomparable stamp on everyone he knew before passing in 2000. Many friends and relatives helped put this astounding comp together that only begins to cover his remarkable range. Noise and ambient explosives punctuated with pop marvels and punk rambles. With solo jazz peices, a Smoke-esque track and a computer playable movie. Treat yourself. "Some is pretty and some is creepy and some is just straight up weird. Highly recommended." -Katie P, KZSU ... "8.5 out of 12" - Adam Strohm, Fakejazz.com

Songs from 20th Century Homes - V/A (12-inch LP)

We say this about all our releases, but this one may well be the ultimate party album. With Rudy Bust, Drue and Myles Langlois, Albatross (Marcel and Hollie Dzama etc), NDF (Neil Farber), Adrian Shalom Williams, Michael Dumontier, POT ROAST, Untanned Hide of a Young Cow, Go Action with DaDa Sound, The Garage People, Todd Martin, and others. All Canadian, nearly all Winnipeg, presented by Old Gold and The Royal Art Lodge Cassette Rescue Series. "Weirdness pure; think of a far out Jad Fair" - Rund um den Watzmann

More - Sweet Killers (CDR)

Wild and crunky adventures recorded at Mike Wright's and Ben's farm, with huge guest stars like Witt Mills, Ryan Reid, Laird Haynes, Jimmy Young, Ryan Lincicome... "75 minutes of amorph free rock jammings and improvisations. It sounds like Can in their very early days.... Nice trip" - Vital Weekly

Tim Foljahn - Obvious Urban Landscapes
(CD/booklet)

Dance music for sleepwalkers. (sleepdancers?) from tim of $2 guitar, thurston moore's male slut, catpower, boredoms, mosquito, christina rosenvinge. Comes with reading for the eyes closed. Embrace your pillow. "A one-hour-long electronic journey through the man's complex mind, packaged with a twenty-page booklet of dream journal diary entries. Lovely, and limited to 500 copies." Midheaven Revolver

Bad Poet - Necrofolia (7-inch 4-song ep)

badpoet.jpg

"Four surprisingly fresh-sounding lo-fi pop-folk-rock tunes by a group from Atlanta, Gee-Ay, led by Ben Young; recorded on 4-track cassette in 1998 and 1999. The EP starts out like a Buffalo Springfield demo recorded on downs, and then goes in several directions without breaking the song format. I always have to tip my hat to folks who can write not-crap songs at this stage of the so-called game--it's hard to avoid obvious cliches and unintended irony. Ena Ballard's violas add a nice non-rock feel at times, and I also dig Ben's keyboard touches. "Lo-fi" recordings aren't usually so filled with subtle touches and pop-style complexities. Hey, I like this! You might too." - Eddie Flowers (Slippytown) ... "Four-track pet sounds" - Tom Schulte, Outsight

GANG WIZARD "el cortez buy y'a drink" (CD)

We went in with nine other labels on this , GW's first cd, and it's a howler; songy improv noise with attitude to spare. "Noisy raucous guitar punk with lots of yelling and screaming, with some quieter weird parts as well of course." - DARLA

DQE - Hot Dog! (3-song 7-inch)

Glorious three songs of wailing calamity from the queen of mean backed by Dugan Trogdlen and Brian Montero. One of DQE's last recordings as a rock outfit, and one for the books! "A noisy, clamorous affair of enthusiasm propelling each track forward... DQE straddles psychobilly and cow punk in the most deconstructed, primitive forms on this raw 45. Grace Braun grew up learning mountain folk songs and hymns in Kentucky. The DQE she formed in high school has thus a folk and country substrate but the soul and delivery is garage punk." -Tom Tearaway Schulte, Outsight

V/A - 1s, 2s & 3s (CD with fold out packaging)

Live improv from 1996 ... many great Atlanta artists from Gold Sparkle Band, William Carlos Williams, San Agustin, More, etc. assemble for on the spot groupings. Hot. "Whomever enters this improv pool burns calories at a furious rate... gladiatorial" - The Wire

Jad Fair & R. Stevie Moore - Fairmoore (CD)

fairmoore.jpg

MAN, is this a great cd - as adorable as the drawings of a newborn child. We can hardly believe we put it out! "Utterly poppy and slightly twisted at the same time...the best album Fair has been involved with since the heyday of Half Japanese." Stewart Mason, AMG ... ".Worthwhile for the adventurous (Rating: 5 - excellent)" - Babysue ... "a wild and wooly ride of childish humor and wacky home-recorded pop. (4) (out of 5)" - Tom Schulte, Outsight ... "A lovely, heartfelt effort that shows both in top form." - Dave Mandl, The Brooklyn Rail

Autobody (Untitled 7-inch, 5-song EP)

Four instrumentals cling and sway with your greatest imaginary superpowers. "Excellent single by a group from Brooklyn, related to Fly Ashtray, Uncle Wiggly and other spelunky New Yorkers. For my money, Autobody are the most abstract of the bunch, wheezing out instrumental lurk-passages that are lit only by damp phosphorescent rags. There are some parts with identifiable 'rock' signifiers, but they're soon covered with talcy mud and whisked away, making this an extremely pleasant diversion." - BYRON COLEY (The Wire)

Eugene Chadbourne - Jungle Cookies (2xCD)

Five years in the making, this magnum opus stitches together mindbending performances by dozens of musicians with the Dr. - from Lenny Kaye and Jimmy Carl Black to William Carlos Williams and Molly and Lizzie Chadbourne - for a haunting recreation of the sensual frenzy that is Amsterdam al fresco. "This here thing does not sound like other releases I've heard by E.C... a dense, delicious, highly tweaked soup of Amsterdam street sounds weaving in and out of various Chadbourne performances." - Eddie Flowers. ... "This is amazing, a double cd filled with completly nutty people.... I dig this stuff." - Brain-box.net ... "John Cage long ago challenged us to listen without pre-determining what is musical...and what is not. Don't neglect to engage the sense of humor, as Eugene Chadbourne most surely has." - Earpeace ...

"It actually sounds better with an open window and lots MORE noise coming in from outside." - Doc Chad

Forever - Love Changes (CD EP)

Ben Young (Bad Poet, Bon Vivants) , Sunni McGarrity, Matt Miller, and Ben Lawless (Bon Vivants, Eastern Development). "Forever pretents nothing more than to be just a pop band. Making good songs and tunes is their trade. They sound unpretentious, friendly and a litle folky. Their are some nice instumental (distorted) parts. Nice arrangments also. These people seem to be in good balance. So have a good time with 'Love changes'." - Vital Weekly ... "The simplicity and the honesty is the beauty of it." - Tom Schulte, Outsight

V/A - Eye Scream Festival (CD with cone packaging)

Generations clash to great effect back in Atlanta's TULA atrium in 1997! Features Eugene Chadbourne's Insect and Western Trio (performing the theme from Exorcist II), Davey Williams and Ladonna Smith, William Carlos Williams, Gold Sparkle Band, Shaking Ray Levis, and Charlie Parker. Free jazz has rarely breathed so deeply. "It is the priviledge of undiscovered genius to release discs that will become impossible-to-acquire colleectors' items, and here is a fine example. released in an edition of 500, the disc comes in a pink fact-sheet inside a silkscreened envelope. The sound is fresh and live... exhilarating." - Ben Watson, The Wire
