Vietnam was a war that challenged our patriotism. I for one, was not about to run when my nation called. Unlike Mr. Clinton, I don’t even respect him enough to call him president. I went, did my duty and returned. When I returned home I did not expect any marching bands or to be welcomed as a hero. However, I sure did not expect to see or hear about all the Jane Fondas and others seeking an end to the war! I sincerely believe they gave aid and comfort to the enemy and the blood of many American soldiers are on their hands.
In fact, I am ashamed to say that I am a product of the 60’s. The air heads of my time have made an indelible mark on the history of our republic. Ungrateful, self-centered, low morals, maggot infested long-haired types just never seemed to have learned from the sacrifice of their parents. The 60’s crowd never matured even as many became parents themselves. And today many of their kids are just as rotten.
You may have a different outlook on the whole situation and I will defend your right to express your opinion. But I seriously doubt you would have fought your way up the beaches of Normandy to defend mine.
I salute my comrades in arms. You sacrificed. A grateful nation says...Thank you. |
