Liner Notes by Eddy Arnold
Many of us have been in cold and lonely cities, maybe broke, and if broke, we are lonely. Bobby Bare, who happens to be one of my favorites, does all the songs in this album very well. He certainly can make you feel lonely and broke. I consider him one of the modern boys; by that I mean he sings his lyrics well, pronounces his words in a manner that can be understood, and still retains his earthiness. He has the sound of someone with whom almost everybody can identify. I've had the privilege of watching him perform, and for those of you who haven't had this privilege, you are in for a treat. Bobby can make you laugh, and make you sad. Several of these songs are standouts -- I particularly like THE STREETS OF BALTIMORE, Houston, Take Me Home to Mama, and take a special listen to Changin' My Mind. I want to say to those of you who have been lonely and sad, I hope that you will have as much pleasure listening to this album as I have had.
