My greatgrandmother, Mary Hamm, moved to Indian Territory in about 1895 from Florence, AL with her two sons, Thomas Isaac and Charles Sanders, and settled in the Pauls Valley, IT, OK area. Her husband was a William Hamm and I have been unable to find anything to verify his existance. I found Mary and her two sons listed in the 1880 census for Lauderdale County, AL but no mention of William at any time.

I went to Florence, AL in 1997 to try to find some trace of the family and discovered that the court house burned to the ground in 1900 and all the records with it.

I can never remember my grandfather, Charles Sanders, or my father, Charles Wesley ever mentioning what happened to William. They just always said they didn't know, and now, unfortunately, I say the same thing.
