| Here is my oak stalli (old Norse for indoor altar). At the centre you see my blotbolli (Anglo-Saxon blotorc ), or offering bowl. Libations are poured into it from the Drinking horn. On the blotbolli is my seax knife, used for carving runes. To the right of the bolli is a rune-carved antler which I use as a cradle for tools. On it are two gandar (wands). To the left of the bolli is a wolf design dish that is also used for offerings. In front of the bolli is a piece of arctic wolf fur, given to me by a brave and wonderful lady named Barbara Reichel (may she be guided by Valkyries in the Afterlife!). On the wolf fur are two wands. To the left of the wands is my rune bag, with a valknot design. Standing behind the bolli is a runic shield, with an image of Yggdrasil in the centre. Hanging on the wall is a valknot banner, which in this arrangement also serves as a cloth to cover the stalli. To the left of it is my Thor's hammer, and to the right my hallowed spearhead, dedicated to Woden (it has a tall pole, but it cannot stand upright inside the house on that). To the left of my hammer is a crow wing feather fan. Beside the spearhead you see my ceramic recels (incense) burner, and in front of the burner, a bind rune shield. |
Here is a different arrangement of Woden's weofed (altar). Late autumn light slants across the shield, and glows bright yellow in the polished amber on the rim of the blotbolli as recels smoke rises from the burner. |
