| Harrows (altars) are an important focal point of Heathen religious and magical practice. On the Harrow one offers creative energy in the holy tools one has imagined and made, the power of one's thoughts turned to the Gods, as well as the might of the gifts left there. With use a harrow accrues might, recording in its stones the spiritual image of all that has been offered on it. A Harrow is a site set aside for holy things and holy time. It becomes a vortex of spiritual energies. It should be kept well, as if a God were coming over to visit it: and this is an accurate analogy. On the harrow are placed sacred tools, food gifts, and other things that are dedicated to certain ritual functions, and to specific deities or directions. Arranging these power objects is an act of magic. It is a way of aligning the self, for the harrow indeed represents that place within ourselves that is dedicated to the Gods, where we offer ourselves , our time, devotion, and love to Them. |
