HELP US PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER...

There are hundreds of children waiting in foster care for forever homes.

Some are part of a sibling group needing to be placed together. Some have other special needs. Most are “older” (school age) children. They are all in need of – and have the right to – the love and support of an appropriate family on a permanent (adoption) basis or a temporary (foster care) basis.

Are YOU Their Answer?”

We recruit Permanency Planning Resource Families for children who have experienced (severe) neglect and abuse, those who have been in foster care, carrying with them emotional and psychological challenges that most adults are ill-equipped to meet on their own.

Too many foster families are going without the help they need to remain strong. When those families disrupt, who could dispute that the cost to us all-especially to the children - it to great.   Providing the right supports and services at the right time to those families in need is a common-sense investment we have toward the future.

In accordance with our mission, we inform the African American community about the need, we educate the community because of the need and we support families and churches to answer the need regarding our children (who are in foster care).

The following are links to an overview of our major services:

·         Recruitment (for families for the above waiting children)

·         Retention (and Support Groups)

·         Placement through UJIMA Agency

Assist UJIMA in Supporting a Local Child/Family Through FRIENDS OF OUR CHILDREN PROGRAM

I’ve seen the ads on TV but, I’m not across any ocean…I'm only across your street..."

There are thousands of children in our States’ foster care systems, and our first mission field is at home and then "unto the uttermost part of the earth”)

This Program recruits individuals who will financially assist UJIMA in supporting a specific African American child(ren) residing within out-of-home care (foster care, kinship care, etc.) in Washington State.  This sponsorship continues monthly.  (Contact with the specific child[ren] is not part of this sponsorship although there is a possibility of a card or short letter to and from the sponsor and child[ren], but should not be expected.)

“And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name received me.”
