Ah-Fo was a very considerate man because he didn't stay for dinner when he found out his friend didn't want him to by reading his friend's mind. He was a nice man because he freed the bee and didn't leave the bee to die. He was a wise man because he returned the pennies and didn't ask for more wishes. Ah-Fo was also a smart man because when he saw that anywhere he went across the river he would die he didn't go. Ah-Fo wasn't quite a coward, but he wasn't completely brave. That is how Ah-Fo was.
The reason I hate kids is because they come and bug me while I'm doing an important experiment. Asking me if they can walk my dog. And I say: "LEAVE ME ALONE!" "Oh go ahead and take my dog for a walk. But please, please, please leave me alone." They say, "Ok, oh, where's the leash and collar?" I say, "On the hook by the door." They say, "Thank-you", and then they leave. By that time my experiment has burned. That is why I hate kids.
It's raining outside again, and I am so bored. I think I'll go look in mom and dad's old trunk from when they were little children. So, I went to the garage and unlocked the old lock with the old key and pried it open. I was amazed at what I saw. I saw some old wall paper on the heavy lid. Some ancient and antique trays that were my mother's mother's mother. They were the kind that you serve on. The lining on the inside of the old trunk smelled very musty.. I was so interested in the trunk that I didn't see it was all cleared up and the sun was shining until my mother came out and said "Looking in the old trunk again?" and I said yes. Then I went outside and played.
One day I was taking a walk in the woods behind out house. I walked for about an hour or so and then I looked around. I found dad's old car that got stuck in the mud, our garbage pile, and a few other things too, but then I saw a cave so I walked in and I felt around. I felt something furry. I looked up and saw a pair of eyes! So I started running, it followed me by that time I was curious to see what was following me. So I turned around and it was only our brown cow Cindy who had been lost for a week. Ah-h-h-h.
What I plan to lean in school this year is:
I hope and plan to learn to read better. At the school I went to before Stanley, the books were too easy for me.
Also, I hope to do more sports because I like sports. Sports are very fun and I hope to learn how to play more of them.
School is for learning and I hope to learn allot this year.
In my way to school one day I found some keys. One was a very special key. It opened something very old, you could tell because it was sort of rusted and it was shaped like this 0=="""> . So I took it to school.
On the way home, I stopped at the old mansion on 56th Street. It had a notice on the door. This is what it said: Attention!! Anyone finding the key to this mansion please notify me at 8901 South 98th, 325-8061, ask for Mr. Ziggy. Thank-you. Reward: This mansion and all that is in it!
So I tried the key in the lock.. It fit! Oh Boy! So I wrote down the address and the telephone number and went home to dinner.
When I got home, I told my parents what happened.
After dinner, my parents drove me to the address on the paper.
My dad went in with me. We showed Mr. Ziggy the key and boy was he happy. Then he took us to the mansion and turned it over to us. We went inside and now we were rich.. My mother nearly fainted. What a happy ending.
The difference between a Wise Man and a Learned Man is a Learned Man has to learn by books and doing things over and over. Also, a learned man is always showing that he knows a lot. Whereas a Wise Man does not "Show off his smarts" that often. Also, a "Wise Man" learns by doing things only once and not having to do things over and over to learn what and what not to do. So the difference between a learned man and a wise man is how they learn and what they know.
"This also was a reading composition that I wrote. Our reading group had to write after reading a story called "The Skeleton's Song" in our reading book. We also had some word we had to look up and some questions we had to answer"
Kami Schichibe was walking through the mountain pass where he had killed his friend about three years ago. When he heard someone or something walking behind him, so he turned around. Nothing was there, so he kept on walking.. Someone or something was still following him so he turned around again, still nothing was there. Boy! This thing is real tricky. Then --- Kami heard a scream. Echoing all around him. He tried to run away, but he couldn't! His legs wouldn't hold him. So he fell to the ground and closed his eyes. Then he heard someone walking by, it stopped and stopped over him. So Kami opened his eyes. There he saw a skeleton of Shimo Shichibe that he head killed standing over him with a knife. He said, "Well, Kami, have you come to see me? You killed me three years ago today and just left me here so I'm going to do the same to you. Ha! Ha! Ha!" So he did as he said he would. He stabbed Kami and left him there to die. Poor Kami...
Well, two 10-year old boys named John and Eric were exploring an old mine because they wanted or hoped to get some gold nuggets to take to school on Monday. The only things they had were a canteen of water and a flashlight. So they went in the cave, you could tell that no one had even set one foot in it in 20 years. We were sort of scared because the boards were rotten but when we finely got to solid ground we weren't scared any more. Then we heard a rumbling behind us. Here is our conversation, "John", "What Eric?" "Did you hear that?" "Yes, I heard it." :Well, what do you think?" "I was afraid you would ask that, I was hoping I wouldn't have to tell you." "Well, I asked, now, what do you think?" "I hate to tell you this, but we're trapped in this crazy old mine!" "Oh no!" "Oh yes!" "What do we do now? Our water supply is almost out and we don't have any food, if we yell nobody will hear us, right?" :RIght, we don't even know the time, I bet it's about 10 PM." "Hey remember? There's an opening at the other end!" "Yes, that's right. I see light now." "We'll make it, hay! We're out!" "Let's go home and see what time it is and tell everybody what happened, ok?" "OK!" So they went home and found out they had only been gone 2 hours. Boy! Were they surprised and happy!
We had to get up at 4:00 AM to get around a point so we went around. Then we ate breakfast. (Later, after hiking awhile).
We had to go through a crack that was about 1 foot wide. There was no way around it or over it. So we took off our packs and started through. The tide was coming in very fast the waves weren't big yet but they were getting there. Everybody got through all right but the last person. She got stuck. Just as she got to dry ground a huge wave washed over the crack but it didn't get her or us.
What a narrow escape!!! So we hiked some more and got out the next day.
Well it was getting close to Halloween, and all the pumpkins in the patch had been bought except one. This one was named "Pumpkin Head". Nobody wanted poor Pumpkin Head. Oh yes, they wanted all his millions and millions of relatives but not Pumpkin Head. Was there any particular reason? No, not one at all.
Well, along came the farmer's boy, he wanted a pumpkin.. Everybody else in his family had one except him. When he found Pumpkin Head, boy were they both happy.. They talked for a whiled, then the farmer's boy named Joe took Pumpkin Head home. Then they both had a very happy Halloween.
To be a knight was hard in the days of old because you had to have a lot of land and you have to be willing to fight for it. You also have to be a page or squire before you can be a knight. While you are in training to be a knight, you are a page or a squire during this time you are a servant to the person who is training you.
There is one knight that I liked particularly, this one is Roland. Here is a little bit about him.
Roland was an early French hero. He was famous for his strength , his good spirit, and his courage. He was killed in 778 AD while fighting the Saracens at Roncesvalles. He was to blow his horn when he needed Charlemange, but when he was attacked, he wouldn't blow it. Finally, when he was about to give up, he blew his horn so powerfully that he blew his temples out and died.
That is a little bit of the knights of old and the one I especially am interested in.
It's not the funniest thing to be a turkey around Thanksgiving.
I suppose you want to know why, don't you? Gosh, you humans are cruel and nosey.
Here is my story about why I hate being a turkey around Thanksgiving.
O.K., first out comes the farmer with an ax, yes and ax, A-X , ax.
Then he chooses a nice fat turkey.
There aren't very many plump, juicy ones because most of us fast around Thanksgiving.
Finally, he chooses one. Then the chase begins. When he catches the one he wants, "Off with their head!" Then the poor thing gets taken into the terrible, terrible human house.
There is gets plucked and put into the oven. When it comes out, it is stuffed, I mean stuffed with a whole bunch of things. Then it gets eaten for dinner, as a main coarse.
That is my story about being a turkey around Thanksgiving, and why I hate being one.
It is fun to care for your bird. All you have to do is feed and water your bird. Make sure it is safe, by keeping it up high. Make sure your bird has a bird bath or someplace that it can bathe.
Oh-no what is this-this-this monster? I better go tell the others.
"Hey Hurgo! There's a monster on our beach. We better tie him down so he doesn't ruin our city."
We tied him down, then we climbed up on him to examine him closer.
When he woke up, he roared so loud that we all ran away. Some Lilliputians fell and get hurt bad.
But at least we caught him. We found out later his name was Gulliver.
The ship that I was on got ruined in a storm and sank to the bottom of the sea. I was the only survivor and I didn't have any food. I was about dead because I was so weak.
With my only strength I swam to an island that was about a mile away from me. I had to go through many rushing rapids and I swam through ice cold water in which I nearly froze to death.
When I got to the island, I was captured by the island people. They questioned me but I didn't answer so they threw me into a cell and they didn't feed me because they wanted to torture me so I would answer them.
Then one night I slipped out while all the guards around my cell were asleep. I went outside and to my surprise it looked like it was only 5 o'clock but it was really 10. I got to the beach safely, there I saw a ship so I waved my hands. Evidently, it saw me to, for it came, rescued me, and took me where I was supposed to go safely.
This book is yours! You will put items on the pages that follow this one that tell about you! There is no right or wrong answers in this book. The answers in this book reflect how you think and feel.

I like to play piano. One thing I know about goals is they don't like to play football. My favorite TV show is The Partridge Family. One thing I wish I could talk to someone else about is friendship. I wish everyone would be friends. One thing I know about boys is they like to play football. I think everybody has the right to be himself/herself. The greatest place in the whole world is home because I like to be there with my family and friends. One thing I would like to know about other people is are they happy. Something that is very important to me is my schoolwork.
If I could change one thing about school, I would change the science teacher. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to go to computers. I like stories about people. One thing that bothers me sometimes is yelling people. I can do anything I want to if I try.
This is the way I look inside.
PEACEFULNESS LOVE AND CONTENT CONFUSION,
ANGER, AND HATRED
Things I think about when I am by myself.
anything, dad, wind, anger, mean teachers, sister, birds, mom, flowers,
friends, pets, problems, nice teachers, toys, love, God, home, joy, the
Bible, cars, work, animals, teachers, school, fights, me anything whatsoever,
others, whosoever, my neat room, others
Behavior is interesting. The way I feel about why I do things is sometimes good and sometimes bad. The way I feel about learning why people do things is none of my business. One problem with finding the real cause for behavior is lots of people don't want to talk about it or they try to avoid it. Some ways to find out what causes things are talking them out with the people. I don't understand why people fight. Sometimes I don't understand why I lose my temper.
I wish people could understand why I...
hold my feelings inside myself, act the way I do, get mad, drink, eat,
sleep, like people younger or older than me rather than people my own age,
don't stand up for myself, hate people.
I would like to know why I...
am, get upset so easy, lose my temper, do what I do, like to do plays,
try to boss people around, like to play music
I would like to know why other people...
don't understand me, talk like they do, disobey adults, are bold, fight,
disagree, chicken out, are selfish, are shy, are mean, dress the way they
do, change their mind at the last minute, get mad so easy, act the way
they do.
Hi, I am Terry, the interviewer for "Acceptance and You" magazine. Today, I'm going to interview a new family on the 800 block. Their last name is Sweet. And that they are.
I'm sort of nervous, so I'm going to write down the questions to ask them before I get there. I am going to interview the two kids, Jenny and Carrie. I will do Jenny first because I think she is the oldest but I'm not sure.
Questions for Jenny:
How old are you? Did you want to move here from your old house? Do you like the kids here? What are you doing to be accepted? Do you think you are being accepted? What school do you go to? Do you like it? And last but not least, do you think you will stay here for the rest of your life?
Questions for Carrie:
How old are you? Do you have any friends here? Do you ride your bike around? Did you like it better at your old house? Do you have a nice teacher at school? Do you have any pets? And do you like to have friends your own age or older or younger than you?
One day I met Diana, Colleen, and Jenny walking down the road. I asked them where they were going and why. They told me they were going to the store to buy some ice-cream bars and some pop. They asked me if I wanted to go get some with them. I said I didn't have any money. So they bought some for me. My friends are very generous to me.
Well, to begin with, I was meanly put into a plastic wrapper, where I nearly suffocated. The only way I lived was by breathing through a different hole every day.
When I was sent to the store, I was put on display. Let me tell you! When your on display be ready to be humiliated! People come by especially women, and squeeze me.
They say things like, "It's to rough, it will scratch the new tub."
"It will fall apart the first time it is used."
If I would talk to them, I'd say, "Of course I would. WOuldn't you if you were all bruised and full of holes?"
One day I really had a surprise! A lady came in, picked me up, looked me over, and took me to a check stand. I was so happy, I just couldn't wait to get back to my favorite job of cleaning tubs and sinks.
When I got home, I had another surprise. The lady handed me to her baby, who immediately started squeezing me and batting me around, like she is right now.
Suddenly I had a sinking feeling I wouldn't live to see another tub!
Well, I must go while I have some strength left. I fear I am falling to pieces. Bye!
