Rules

Please read and follow all contest rules carefully:

1.  In order to enter the editor or organization must be a member in good standing of the New York American Legion Press Association.

2.  Submit at least two different copies of the publication.

3. A cover letter listing the following must accompany each entry;

A. The category you are entering.
B. The full name, address and phone number of the editor.
C. The full name of the publication.
D. The full name, address and phone number of the submitter if different than the editor.
E. The full name of the Webmaster and web page address for category "C"
F. The full name of the writer and newspaper name for category "D"
G. The size of the organization your entry represents.
H. Frequency of Publication or updates to web pages.
I.  Average circulation of organization publication.
J. Full name and number of the organization.

4. All entries must be produced in the contest year which is between April 1, and March 31. (eg. April 1, 2008, March 31, 2009)

5.  The deadline for all entries is April 15. (eg. 2009)

6.  No submissions will be returned, however; Scrap Book entries will be available for pickup at the annual Awards Luncheon at Department Convention. The submitter must make arrangements for the pickup if not attending.

7. Mail entries to the following;

8. All awards will be presented at the annual meeting and awards luncheon on Friday of the Department Convention.

9. A fee of $10.00 must accompany each entry.

1. American Legion 3000 or more Members
2. American Legion under 3000 Members
3. Auxiliary/SAL/40/8 any size (May be included in American Legion Publication)

B: Post Publications
Past Department Presidents Award

1. American Legion Posts 15-150 Members
2. American Legion Posts 151-300 Members
3. American Legion Posts Over 300 Members
4. Auxiliary/SAL/40/8 any size (May be included in American Legion Publication)

C: Web Page
Past Detachment Commanders Award

1. American Legion (Post/County/District/Department)
2. American Legion Auxiliary (Unit/County/District/Department)
3. Sons of the American Legion (Squadron/County/District/Detachment)

D: Editorial
Michael J. Kogutek, PNC Award

1. Written by a member in organization publication
2. Written by a member in a community publication
3. Written by a non-member in an organization or community publication

E: Scrap Book
Phyllis Bachman, PNP Award

1. Best presentation of organization publication and community news clippings in scrap book form.

E: Miscellaneous
Christopher R. Cerullo, PNC Award

1. Any publication from any affiliated organization not covered in other categories.

G: Public Relations Person of the Year

1. Presented to an organization member that best exemplifies the meaning of a Public Relations person by promoting their organization by any means. An essay of accomplishments not to exceed 500 words must accompany the nomination.
