Unexpected Change of Nurnberg Alumni Association Officers

I learned unofficially on 5 April 2004 that President Ron Burgess, Operations Vice-President Rita McKenzie, and '70s-Era Representative Lynn Tumey had resigned their offices, and that Advertising Vice-President David Ogè succeeded to the office of President.

Continuing Officers and Directors would thus have been David Ogè, Charlotte Forman, Bob McQuitty, Betty Thomas, Doug Hatt, and Ginger Milling.

I received on 8 April an official announcement, edited as noted based on later information:

"1. On Mar 31 Ron Burgess due to family illness resigned his post as President.

   2. On April 3 and April 5 two members for personal reasons resigned leaving the Board shy 3 positions for us to fill for unexpired terms. [moved from 3rd paragraph to 2nd paragraph]

After thoroughly going over Article 5.04 and 5.06 of the by-laws with Doug Veith, our legal counsel, the remaining members of the Board by unanimous vote appointed Dave Ogè as the acting President for the unexpired term. Dave had been the VP, Advertisement.

By a unanimous vote the Board has filled the following positions for unexpired terms:
a.) VP, Advertisement is Debbie (McLean) Ogè.
[as later corrected]
      b.) VP, Operations is T. D. Jorgensen.
c.) Era Rep 70's is Reni (Peek) Michaels."

The new officers are now (8/9 April) identified on the 2nd-level Board of Directors page of the Association website.

Details about their review of the Bylaws strike me as strange; frankly it sounds like a coup on the part of the prior administration. I comment further on this at "A Contrarian's View".

Update, June 2005: In a parliamentary surprise at the Annual Meeting in Orlando the present administration deployed a motion that there be no election this year, and that they be 'rolled over' for another three years. The motion passed, no discussion, with a handful of dissents. It was only after passage that points of information/order could be raised to identify the present officers and board, and to get an opinion from Legal Counsel on the propriety of this action.
