Since Nuremberg
After graduating from Nuremberg in 1952, I entered the University of Delaware and graduated 1972. That's called being a really slow learner. Actually, schooling was interrupted with marriage, frequent moves, and three children. I graduated from East Carolina University in North Carolina with a Master's degree in special education in 1982 and finally started teaching when the last child was in high school. I had the 8th and 9th grade children with learning disabilities. My husband, whom I met in Delaware, was a chemist / chem-engineer with duPont in research and development. We are both retired.
Our three children, two girls and a boy, live in North Carolina, Kentucky, and Florida. They were in competitive swimmimg from the time they were little, and two of them qualified for the Olympic trials. This all means that as a familiy we were all involved in swimming practices, meets, officiating, and organizations all those growing-up years. We did a lot of traveling around the states, and one of the girls went to Italy for a meet with her college team. Her coach at Auburn University was Richard Quick, who has now been the U.S. Olympic coach for women for many years. One of her team members was Rowdy Gaines who presently announces the Olympic swim meets. You may have heard of one or the other of them.
We have four grandchildren, ages 3 - 13.
We are dog and cat people, with two labs, a husky, and two cats. This means there is always someone on the wrong side of the door to be let in or out. We love the woodland birds and have seven feeders in the yard. There have also been snakes, and orphaned baby squirrels, birds, and rabbits over the years.
I love classical music, reading is a passion. I particularly love legal thrillers. If anyone has any recommendations, please send them to me. I'm always excited to find new authors.
Since I retired from teaching, I've been tutoring private students ranging from kindergarten through 8th grade. Most of the children are grades 1 - 5, however. I love remedial teaching, especially on a one-to-one basis.
