2008 Give Back to the Parks
Whitewater State Park
Saturday, May 17

NSTTwill go down to Whitewater State Park on May 17 to help restore the park for reopening after the floods of 2007.
We need as many volunteers as possible to help out ... if you can swing a hammer, heave a shovel, or lend moral support,
we need YOU!

Call Donna, 612-529-0552, or email info@nstt.org to get your name on the list.
We will carpool and caravan down to the park ... bring any hand tools that might be useful
for filling in trail washouts, putting up trail signs, or just general park clean up.
This is YOUR chance to give back where it's really needed!

Wild River State Park Seed Collection Project

Come join NSTT for an easy "work day" collecting wildflower seeds at Wild River State Park!

As you know, NSTT is "giving back to the parks" again this year. We're doing that in two ways: making a cash donation to each park we hold an event at, and by helping a state park with work projects they need done.

This fall we'll start a two-pronged project at Wild River State Park. This fall we'll collect wildflower seeds and next spring we'll go back and help plant those seeds.

The date we've chosen will be Saturday, September 23. We'll meet at the Trail Center at 10 a.m. for a membership meeting, followed by a potluck lunch. NSTT will furnish utensils and plates, and lots of water for all our hard workers! At 1 p.m. we'll join the other volunteers at the park for an orientation and then go out and collect seeds. This is a work project EVERYBODY can help with!

Help us show our parks we appreciate them and appreciate the walking opportunities they afford us … come work with us at Wild River State Park on Saturday, September 23! Watch for more info and car pooling opportunities.

Camping update at State Park events

NSTT is not reserving the group camp this year, but we are going to try to get a group of campsites at the regular campgrounds. Now you can reserve specific sites. You can get a map of the campground at the DNR website www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/index.html then to the park and maps.

Each person is responsible for making their own reservations. Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance. You can make your reservations online at www.stayatmnparks.com or call 1-866-857-2757. Reservation fee is $8.50 and is non-refundable.

Our first camping weekend is at Flandrau on June 23-24. The first day you can make a reservation is March 25 for Friday, June 23. Ask for a site between numbers 1-21 this will put us all in the same loop and close enough that we can gather at someone's fire to chat in the evening … or not!

Our second camping weekend is at Sibley on September 8-9. The first day you can make a reservation is June 10 for Friday, September 8. Ask for a site between numbers 83-93 ... this will put us all in the same loop and close enough that we can gather at someone's fire to chat in the evening … or not!

Both parks have events on the weekends we're there, so make your reservations promptly!
