Why Open Source?

Open source programs are available for free, and the authors also publish the "source," which is like a recipe. So the cookbook is available along with the meal.

Authors of FOSS (Free Open Source Software) can easily collaborate on their programs, and be responsive to requests from users to fix bugs and add new features.

Where to find it?

Directories of Free Open Source Software are listed below, arranged by computer type: Macintosh, Windows, or Linux. Under each of these categories, there are also recommendations for individual FOSS programs.
