Owner Marc Rubin has been a consulting software developer since 1979, focusing on research & development for innovative engineering companies.

Before striking out as an independent consultant, Marc held the position of Principal Software Engineer at ADR Ultrasound, developing medical diagnostic equipment. Prior to that, he worked as a Research & Development Engineer at GenRad Labs, designing state-of-the-art test equipment for the computer & electronics industry.

Specializing in systems software, real-time embedded firmware, and software tools, Marc uses object-oriented techniques to design software in C, C++, Visual Basic, Java, and several scripting languages.

Before the advent of the IBM PC, Marc's first personal computer was a KIM I. Based on the 6502 microprocessor, the KIM was the first widely-available 'home' computer, inspiring Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak to create The Apple II. In the early 1980's, Marc began working with Macintosh and IBM PCs at Arizona State University, where he received a Master's degree in Physiological and Experimental Psychology, specializing in Human-Computer Interaction.

Windows then rose and dominated the software development scene for over 20 years, until the World Trade Center bombing in 2001 finally burst the "Dot COM bubble." At that point, "outsourcing" gained critical mass and moved much of the software industry offshore to India, South Korea, and other developing countries.

Running RedHat Linux since 1996, Marc recently switched to Slackware, and specializes in 'Linux Migration.' He encourages Windows users to investigate this alternative operating system, along with other free, open-source software for users of all computers.
