SHARE WITH ME

Let me see the you,
That no one else has known,
That I may come to know,
The side you've never shown.
Share with me.

Tell me what you are feeling,
When the two of us are one.
Are you caught up in the magic?
Do you ever touch the sun?
Share with me.

Let me know I reach you,
Are you glad that I am here?
Does my presence bring you comfort?
Or my love create a fear?
Share with me.

I'll treasure all your secrets,
And work to earn your trust.
Your friendship I will value,
Communication is a must.
Share with me.

WEEP NOT

Watch the children as they play,
Hear their shouts of joy.
Let their laughter fill your heart,
And weep not, Little Boy.

Watch the old men as they sit,
Sleeping in the sun.
Hear their dreams of yesterday,
And weep not, Little One.

Watch the lovers hand in hand,
Longing for what will be.
See their hopes of ever-after,
And weep not, weep not for me.

LOVE CAN’T

Love can’t taste of singing hearts,
Or smell like painted dreams,
When paper flowers are vased in shame,
And die from silent screams.

Love can’t write a laughing voice,
Or hear a sunrise bold,
When paper dolls are folded twice,
And left out in the cold.

Love can’t feel the moon’s pale glow,
Or catch the stars that fall,
When valentines are made of glass,
And thrown against the wall.

I can’t know the love you feel,
Or hope to understand,
If you don’t speak what’s in your heart,
And reach out for my hand.

FIRST DATE

That quaint cafe beside Lake Tate,
You took me there on our first date.
The candle light was all aglow,
I can see it still...'twas long ago.

Across the lake reflections shimmered,
Like the light in your eyes. Ah, I remember.
You touched my hand, at once I knew.
There would never be anyone but you.

We walked along the water's edge,
Your heart to me alone you pledged.
The cafe was witness to our first kiss,
A moment in time of passionate bliss.

Our years were many, and love did grow.
Often we visited our Cafe Deprough.
It shared the good times, we celebrated there,
And watched as silver colored our hair.

I see you now at our favorite table.
You stare out the window under the gable.
Your eyes glisten in the candle glow,
A tear drop falls as your head bows low.

I left you before our story was through.
Still, for me there is only you.
You are sad and angry that I should go,
But remember my dear, I still love you so.

And the day will come, the bridge you will cross,
No longer to feel the pain of loss.
I'll be waiting there beside Lake Tate,
To start a never-ending first date.

ODE TO THE NIGHT

Touch not the watcher moon, of sun,
Break not the drought of light,
But will the stars their longest stay,
And keep the velvet night.

For Thorn-Winged Dog hath flown away,
And kissed my lips with a lie.
He whispered to me of fool-dreamt youth,
Saying, "Ye shall never die."

But age hath touched my sun bronzed cheeks,
Stealing this youth of mine.
Cowering now in shadow-cloaked nights,
I curse the hands of time.

So linger sweet night of secrets and pain,
Keep morning in midnight's grasp.
Let not time's speed-tipped wings fly by,
But let my moment last.

FRIENDS

Someone,
Who is more than patient,
When your world is all askew,
And you've fumbled all the chances,
That life has given you.

Someone,
Who walks ahead of you,
When you're lost and need a guide,
Or stands behind to catch you,
When you tumble from life's ride.

Someone,
Who multiplies your laughter,
And divides in half your pain,
Believes you can do the impossible,
Gives you sunshine when it rains.

Someone,
Who is always by your side,
From beginning to the end,
Because you're all of this to me,
I'm proud to call you friend.
