Introduction
Unlike many states that use, dull, standardized markers for scenic byways and other routes, Minnesota has a number of artistic, sometimes multi-colored designs. Here is a collection of them.

Ofiicially Named Highways
Minnesota has over 50 highways with official names that have been written into state statutes since 1953. Also in the statutes is the requirement that the Department of Highways "erect suitable markers to blaze" these highways. However, Mn/DOT has recently decided that sponsors need to pay for the signs, so many older signs are being phased out as intial enthusiasm has waned over the years. Presently over 30 have signs erected marking them.

Note the Amish Buggy Byway and B.E. Grottom signs are actually white on green, the pink on black is a scanner problem.
