Backslash and Barnacle Billy

Gray Whales (Eschrichtius gibbosus) in the Klamath River. (I gave them these names and are not official.) The mother has a distinctive mark on her left side that looks like a backslash character (\). The calf has more barnacles on it than I would have expected. (Barnacles are normal on Gray Whales and harmless.)
