      • How to cook rice

      If you have a rice cooker, I am sure you already know how to cook rice. If you don't have a rice cooker, your choices are either buying one or cooking rice in a saucepan! I encourage you to purchase a rice cooker because it's easier.

      Cooking rice in a saucepan
       

      1. Wash 1 1/2 cups rice until water become clean.
      2. Put rice and 2 cups water into a medium-sized saucepan.
      3. Place the saucepan over high heat and bring it to boil.
      4. Reduce heat until water just simmers.
      5. Cover the pan and keep simmering for 15-20 minutes or until water is absorbed.
      6. Remove the pan from heat and leave it for 5-10 minutes with the lid on.
      7. Fluff with a wooden spatula or spoon and serve.

      • Fried rice

      Ingredients: for 2 servings

      2 cups of leftover rice
      1 medium chicken breast
      1/2 medium onion or 2 green onions
      1/2 medium carrot
      1 stalk celery
      1/4 cup green peas
      1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
      1 tablespoon soy sauce
      1/2 teaspoon red chili paste
      3 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
      a pinch of salt
      a pinch of pepper

      How to make it...

      1. Dice chicken and marinate in ginger and soy sauce.
      2. Dice vegetables.
      3. Heat pan and vegetable oil until hot. Saute chicken well, and add all vegetables.
      4. Add chili paste when vegetables become tender.
      5. Add rice and mix well while drizzling sweet soy sauce over mixture.
      6. Add salt and pepper to taste.
