Drug Enforcement Agency

U.S. Food and Drug Administration

The FDA is responsible for protecting the public health by assuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation.

Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations

The Joint Commission evaluates the quality and safety of care in an organization via an accreditation process--an extensive on-site review by a team of Joint Commission health care professionals, at least once every three years. The purpose of the review is to evaluate the organization's performance in areas that affect patient care.

The National Association of State Controlled Substances Authorities

NASCSA is a non-profit educational organization through which state agencies, federal agencies, the regulated industries and professions, and others can work to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of state and national efforts to prevent and control drug abuse, yet provide mechanisms to make the class of drugs known as controlled substances reasonably available to those persons who have a true medical need for these drugs.
