P.A.W.S.- The Pet Animal Welfare Act: Has a nice, warm, fuzzy sound to it. That's what we thought before
investigating more deeply. Before supporting PAWS ask yourself these questions.
1) I would like my new puppy to be born......
a) in a detached kennel on a concrete or wire
surface
b) in my breeders home attended by it's concerned owner ready to help the puppy
and it's mother during the birth process.
2) In its first days of life I want my puppy...
a) to remain in a detached kennel and have human
interaction only on a limited basis.
b) to live in a warm household enviroment under the watchful
eye of a caring breeder.
3)During my new puppys first eight weeks of life....
a) I want the puppy to live in a kennel with
only limited stimulation and human interaction.
b) I want my puppy to learn about household
noises, meet new people and be handled many times a day.
4) I want my new puppy and its' parents to....
a) Be handled as livestock under the regulation of
the USDAA.
b) Be raised by a conscientious breeder who subscribes to an abides by a breed club code
of ethics as a part of a family.
If the majority of your answers were "b" you should oppose P.A.W.S.
For more information on the P.A.W.S bill and why responsible hobby breeders and a majority of the AKC's member
clubs oppose the bill, visit the "NO PAWS" website.

The National Animal Identification System, otherwise known as "Yes Virginia, there really is a BIG BROTHER".
The Federal government wants to permently identify and track every cow, chicken, goat, rabbit or other livestock and breeding
stock in the country and they want you to register your home as a "premise". And you thought big dogs were scary. From the
"Poultry Press" By January 1, 2008, the NAIS will be mandatory. (Plan, pp. 2, 10, 17.) Every person who owns even
one horse, cow, pig, chicken, sheep, pigeon, or virtually any livestock animal, will be forced to register their home,
including owner’s name, address, and telephone number, and keyed to Global Positioning System coordinates for satellite
monitoring, in a giant federal database under a 7-digit “premises ID number.” (St., pp. 3-4, 10-12; Plan, p. 5.)
