PATTERNS:        SANTA       ICE SKATES      SNOWMAN

 

            SANTA LAPEL PIN (my original)

            Materials needed:

            Size F hook

            Small amounts of pink, white, & red yarn

            2 - 7mm movable eyes

            1 - 5mm red pompom

            1 - 9mm jingle bell (your choice of color)

            Small amount of polyfiber filling for beard

            Glue gun and glue stick

            1 3/4" safety pin or small magnet

            Face: With pink, ch 2

            Rnd1: Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with sl st in beg sc, ch 1 (now and throughout): 6 sc

            Rnd2: (inc rnd) 2 sc in next sc(inc made) inc in each sc around: 12 sc

            Rnd3: (Sc in next sc, inc in next sc) 6 times: 18 sc

            Rnd4: (Sc in next 2 sc, inc in next sc) 6 times; do not ch; finish off: 24 sc

            Hat: With face piece right side facing, join white with sl st in any sc on last rnd, ch 2

            Row1: (Note: Work beg cluster st in same st as joining.) Work cluster st as follows:

            YO, insert hook in nest st, pull up a loop, YO, insert hook in same st (5 loops on hook),

            Hook yarn and draw thru all 5 loops (cluster made), work cluster st in each of next 2 sc,

            work 2 cluster sts in next sc, work cluster st in each of next 2 sc; rep from * once;

            finish off: 11 cluster sts. Turn piece over and join red with sl st in last cluster st on

            prev row, ch 1

            Row2: Sc in each cluster st across, ch 1, turn: 11 sc

            Row3: Work 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc across to within the last 2, dec for last sc, ch 1 turn: 11 sc

            Row4: Dec in first 2 sc, sc in each sc across, inc in last sc, ch 1 turn: 11 sc

            Rows5-8: Repeat rows 3 and 4 twice. At end of last row, finish off leaving 2" strand.

            Finishing: Fold top of hat in half along row 4 (or 5); using 2" strand, stitch to first cluster. Attach

            Jingle bell to end of hat. Weave in all loose ends.

            Using hot glue, add movable eyes, red pompom for nose, and polyfiber for beard.

            Attach pin on back of hat.

            Optional Suggestions: Instead of a pin, add a magnet for a fridgie OR a hook for an ornament.

            ICE SKATES PIN

                     These were given to me one year and I copied it.   The creator is unknown.  Here is my deciphered pattern.

                     Materials needed:

                     2 Jumbo paper clips

                     Size F hook

                     Small amounts of red yarn and white yarn

                     1 small safety pin

                     Make 2……..

                     Attach red yarn to paperclip (make sure the full long side is down, attach the yarn to the top right).

                     Row1: Ch 2, 3 dc, 4 tr , 3 dc, ch 2 and turn (10 sts).

                     Row2: dc in first dc and in next 4 (5 dc). End off

        Row3: Attach white at top of last dc. Ch1. Sc in each dc across (5 sc)

        Ch 10 and end off leaving a 6" stand to tie 2 skates together.

                     Tie 2 skates together with a bow. Attach a small safety pin behind the bow to use as a lapel pin.

                     If desired, use a small piece of red yard to stitch the 2 skates together positioning them as desired.

                     A magnet or an ornament hook can be substituted for the safety pin.

            SNOWMAN PIN (my original)

                Materials needed:

            Size F hook

            Small amounts of white and black yarn

            2 - 5mm black pompoms

            1 - 5mm orange pompom

            1 - 1/2" piece of brown chenille stem (pipe cleaner)

            Glue gun and glue stick

            1 - 3/4" or 1" safety pin

            Optional: Small amount of green yarn and 4 5mm red pompoms

            Head: With white, ch 2

            Rnd1: Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with sl in beg sc, ch 1, do not turn (now and throughout): 6 sc

            Rnd2: (inc rnd) 2 sc in next sc(inc made) inc in each sc around: 12 sc

            Rnd3: (Sc in next sc, inc in next sc) 6 times: 18 sc

            Rnd4: (Sc in next 2 sc, inc in next sc) 6 times: 24 sc

            Rnd5: (Sc in next 3 sc, inc in next sc) 6 times; do not ch; finish off. 30 sc

            Hat: With black, ch 14 loosely

            Row1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn: 12 hdc (do not count ch-2 turning ch).

            Row2: Sl st in each of next 4 hdc, ch 2, hdc in sp at base pf ch, hdc in each of next 4 hdc; ch 2, turn: 5 hdc

            Row3: Hdc in sp at base of ch and in next hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in each of rem 2 hdc, ch 2, turn: 6 hdc

            Row4: Hdc in sp at base of ch and in next 2 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in each of rem 2 hdc, finish off: 7 hdc

            Finishing: Hot glue hat to head. Add black pompoms for eyes and orange pompom for nose. With black,

            embroider mouth . Roll one end of the chenille stem in a few times to form a pipe. Glue pipe

            to face as if Snowman was smoking it. Attach pin to back of hat. Weave in all loose ends.

            Optional Suggestions: Instead of a pin, add a magnet for a fridgie OR a hook for an ornament.

            If desired, add holly to hat.

            Holly: With green, ch 8 (for first leaf), sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in nest ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch,

            Hdc in next ch, sc on next ch, sl st in rem ch; ch 8 (for 2nd leaf), work same as first leaf; ch 8 (for

            3rd leaf), work same as first leaf, finish off. Glue on red pompoms for berries. Attach to hat.
